About Fuad

Fuad Akhundov is an enthusiastic researcher of Baku’s history and architecture and a self-trained tour guide. Born in Baku in 1968, Fuad is a graduate of the Oriental Department at Baku State University. He got his Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and the Master of Arts in Education from the University of Toronto.

That being said, Fuad’s passion for Baku’s storied past trumps over all his background and occupation. What started as a hobby, gradually evolved into articles, lectures, films and, above that all, his untraditional tours in old parts of Baku where each and every spot is presented in a ‘now and then’ juxtaposition thanks to tons of historic photos Fuad is carrying in his huge portfolio.

Even though Fuad Akhundov lives in Canada, he is always ready to present a lively interactive lecture on Baku’s history in any part of the world where there is an interest to this truly fascinating city. One thing he knows for sure: Bakuvians are Bakuvians for the rest of their lives, no matter where they happen to live now. So wherever they are, Fuad is ready to convey the message of your native city, Baku.
